I Am a Junkie...

I willingly admit that I am a "junkie"...not that bad kind of junkie but the good kind of junkie!  Many would describe me as a Natural Foods Junkie and that is the premise of my blog!  I truly love food in its purest and natural form.  Here is an example...the doctor told my husband that he needs more fiber in his diet, so eat more bread and grains from pastas.  I love fiber, but prefer it in its purest form minus the gluten, so I researched the best sources for gluten-free fiber sources in their purest form.  I found Psyllium Husk and cold-milled Flax Seeds to be the best.  Why do I encourage consumption of fiber in its purest form?
  1. Dietary Fiber
  2. All-Natural
  3. Filling
  4. Brain Food
How much dietary fiber do we need daily?  See the Mayo Clinic's article on Dietary Fiber

Because I mix flaxseed and psyllium husk as my all-natural morning cereal, I supply my body with the necessary dietary fiber that sends messages to my brain that I am full!  Throughout the day, I am consuming other high-fiber fruits, vegetables, lean proteins in their purest form and of course my True Green Machine Smoothie, where I include another all-natural, high-fiber food - chia seeds.

The aforementioned is an example of how much of a natural foods junkie I am very proud to be.  I still love to indulge in some fun foods, but 90% of the time, my diet consists of natural foods and I put a strong emphasis on making sure I do that for my family as well.  I am very fortunate to have my husband as my partner-in-crime who is very supportive of my wellness antics.  My 4-year old daughter eats everything!!  Occasionally, you will hear her walk around the house saying "fruits and vegetables are so healthy" and "candy and cookies is junk".  In our household, we race on who can finish the true green machine smoothie the fastest...of course, in order to encourage her to drink smoothies everyday, my daughter frequently wins!  I am a proud wife and mother!

Anyway, follow my blog and keep up with my updates on my life as a Natural Foods Junkie.

Tip: Be honest with yourself in what you consider pure and natural; do not always trust labels that say "all-natural".  I have seen food boxes that say "all-natural", but have dozens of ingredients that I just did not recognize.
